Minnesota Endorses Line 3 Pipeline Replacement Project
A Minnesota regulator has endorsed the revised Environmental Impact Statement for Enbridge Inc's proposed Line 3 pipeline replacement project.
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission's approval decision of the project is a leap forward for Canadian oil producers, who have been forced to reduce production in Alberta due to a shortage of pipeline capacity.
Line 3, which was built in the 1960s, carries oil from Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin. Because of Line 3’s age and corrosion, it carries less oil than it was designed for and is said to need replacement.
