The Canada Energy Regulator has recommended approval NOVA Gas Transmission’s (NGTL) natural gas pipeline expansion project.
The 2021 System Expansion project includes construction of around 344-km of natural gas pipeline in eight loops and three compressor station unit additions. The pipeline is expected to start near Grande Prairie in Alberta, Canada and end just north of Calgary.
The Canada Energy Regulator found considerable benefits, including increased market access for Canadian natural gas, capacity building for locals and Indigenous communities and businesses, as well as job creation across the country.
In its application, NGTL noted that it expects to begin operating the project by April 2021 at an estimated cost of $2.3 billion.
